Plateau University VC Donates To IDPs

Jos – The Vice Chancellor of the Plateau  state University Bokkos, Professor Yohana Daniel Izam  has donated  relief materials to over three thousand Internally Displaced Persons from Bokkos and environs camped at Regional Church Council and COCIN Local Church Council Heipang  in Barkinladi local government council of the  state.

The Vice Chancellor of the University ,who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. John Barnabas Nvau ,presented the items on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Staff and Students of the Institution.

Dr John stated that the decision to identify with the displaced persons  was borne out of the institution’s corporate social responsibility and community service efforts to ameliorate their sufferings and hard economic realities after being sacked from their communities and means of livelihood in the month of  July attacks on their villages.

At the COCIN RCC Bokkos where about 1460 Internally Displaced Persons drawn from Ruku, zargon, kazok, Burdinga and others were taking refuge, Dr. John presented assorted relief materials such as bags of garri, rice, beans, blankets, mats and toiletries to the leader of the camp,   Peter Magwai,who expressed joy and gratitude to the University for this show of love.

Similarly, in COCIN LCC Heipang, the  relief items were received by the Camp Leader Mr. Iliya Makoawo who appreciated the gesture on behalf of the twelve communities constituting over  2,564 Internally Displaced Persons.

Mr Makoawo also appealed to the government to assist them in moving them  back to their sacked communities in order to pick up their lives again.
