President of the Plateau Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PLACCIMA), Da Bulus Dareng, has said that this year’s Trade Fair in the state will take place from 18th to 29th October, at the Jos Polo Field from 8am daily.

Daring said the chamber was grateful to Governor Simon Lalong, for having worked hard to create the enabling environment for the Trade Fair to take place.

According to him, “Today, it is a different story about the peace situation on the Plateau. We are enjoying relative peace as the issue of restricted areas have gradually diminished and people can now move freely to all parts of the town.”

He said there would be over 300 exhibitors from corporate organisations, government agencies, all the 19 Northern states and local governments with 70,000 visitors in attendance.

“This means that a very big platform will be provided for intending investors and existing ones, manufacturers, buyers and sellers of goods and services to really exchange ideas, technology and innovations. A situation that would not have been possible.

“It shall also open new market and opportunities for the business community to interact and generates new ways to promote their businesses even in the area of export and import,” Dareng added.

To ensure the safety of lives and; property of everyone at the venue of the trade fair, Dareng said that the venue will be properly lit 24 hours inside and outside with security personnel planted at strategic positions to monitor happenings within the vicinity of the trade fair.

“The organisers will use national supply and stand–by generators to ensure that the power need of our exhibitors is met. People coming into the venue of the trade fair will pass through rigorous security checks at the entrance to ensure that dangerous items are prevented for finding their ways into the trade fair ground.

“This is to also warn that any person who is planning to commit a crime of any sort should shelve such as the security network at the trade fair will be on 24 hours surveillance, and once caught, the full wrath of the law will be brought to bear.”
