Following the expiration of a 48-hour ultimatum, the Joint Union of Plateau State Owned Tertiary Institutions (JUPTI) has officially declared an indefinite strike action across all state-owned campuses. Union leadership, including Chairman Comr. Yohanna S. Igyem and Secretary Comr. John M. Jilang, issued the directive effective from 11:59 pm on April 27, 2026, citing a complete lack of progress in negotiations with the state government.
This sudden shutdown leaves thousands of students in a state of limbo, facing disrupted exam schedules and the looming threat of a prolonged academic session.
