The Plateau State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Thursday inaugurated a three-man committee that would organised its proposed SWAN Week.
Inaugurating the committee in Jos, the State’s SWAN Chairman, Mr. Thadeus Yilmen said SWAN week would always remain sacrosanct in the life of any sport writer.
Yilmen lamented that SWAN has not organised such an event for over a decade in the State, hence would not be out of place if the present executive of the association in the State was thinking of such.
”The most important thing in the life of any sport journalist is the SWAN week. For over a decade now, such event was not organise by successive leadership of the association, so we felt we should put up something as such. He maintained.
The Chairman charged members of the committee to live above board, and tasked them to be good ambassadors of the association.
He also appealed to members of the association to support the committee in organising a successful week for the sport writers in the State.
The three-man committee has Mr. Aminu Yusuf, Mrs Tongnaan Bawa and Mr.
Agabus Pwanagba as memebers.
The terms of reference for the committee include; to raise resources for the event, to come up with the template and modalities for the celebration, and select suitable date for event.
Responding on behalf of other members, Tongnaan Bawa said they would do all within their power to ensure they organised a befitting week that would be of admiration.
She also sought for support from members in other to deliver on the task given them.
