The Spokesman of Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State, Major Umar Adams, has disclosed that the task force has arrested four suspects in connection with last Saturday night/ Sunday morning attack on Josho village in Bokkos Local Government of Plateau.
Adams made the disclosure to journalists on Sunday, describing the arrest as “great boost’’ to the operations of the security agencies in the state.
He explained that the attack between the night of Saturday and early hours of Sunday attracted the quick response of security operatives stationed in the area, who trailed ;the assailants and succeeded in making the arrest.
“Although there was no casualty during the attack, our security personnel were able to arrest four persons in relation to the attack on Josho or Farin-Gonghi village in Daffo District of Bokkos.
“The suspects will subjected to interrogations and investigations so as to assist us at getting the remaining persons that took part in the attack.
“As it is now, the entire village is being dominated by our personnel to ensure that there is no more breakdown of law and order,” he said.
The STF Spokesman stated that the affected village and the neighbouring villages are very calm and urged the people to continue to live in peace with one another.
He called on the people of the area to continue to support and cooperate with security operatives .
Adams appealed to the people to always endeavour to report any suspicious movement and activities around their environments to security operatives for prompt action.
According to him, “people should endeavour to give security operatives accurate and timely information, which can help our personnel to repel any attack or situation that could post threat to peace and security”.
Responding, Mr Yakubu Tamai, Management Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government, expressed happiness over the success of the security operatives in making the arrest.
“We are so happy that the security operatives were able to get four of the attackers on our innocent people.
“We hope that the remaining attackers will be tracked and arrested to face the full wrath of the law for the dastardly act meted on our people,” he said.
Tamai also expressed the hope that the arrested suspect would be interrogated to reveal their cohorts and sponsors, to serve as deterrent and help in restoring permanent peace in the area and Plateau State as a whole.
