Jos — Plateau State Governor, Jonah David Jang, on Monday disclosed in Jos his administration has commenced revision of the law of Plateau State that were outdated.

The laws, he said, include the revised Penal Code Law and Criminal Procedure Code Law of Plateau State (not Northern Nigeria) now before the State Executive Council.

Jang said within the next few days it would be transmitted to the state House of Assembly for passage into law.

Governor Jang stated this during the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Pius Damulak as the Chief Judge of Plateau State at Government House Rayfield Jos.

He said his administration would remain focused in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people even as the count down to the 2015 general election that would mark the end of his tenure commences in earnest.

He challenged the judiciary to live above board to play its traditional role in tackling election disputes for the overall development of democracy in the country.

He expressed dismay over the wave of criminal activities in the country despite the critical role being played by the security agencies to curb the menace.

He urged the Judiciary to ensure that criminals face justice.

He frowned at the ease at which some courts grant bail to hardened criminals even though some of them are serial offenders.
