Plateau State Government has finalised plans to upgrade three of its youth centres to international standard. The youth centres will be be spread in the three senatorial districts and located in Shendam (Southern zone), Pankshin (Central zone) and Dadinkowa Jos (Northern zone). Honourable Famak Lohfa Barko who is the Commissioner for Youth Development stated this in his office in Jos.

The commissioner said that the centres will provide avenues for youths to acquire skills and be empowered. He said that the works will begin immediately the funds are released for the projects which will benefit the youths of the state. Barko stated that the State Government took the project seriously and will ensure it is completed.

Speaking further he said that there will be a section for training to be equipped with recreational activities while skills acquisitions and empowerment equipment such as welding machines, sewing machines, hair dressing, barbing saloon, handset repairs, weaving machines, beads making, carpentry and computer repairs will be provided. He said that his ministry will work in partnership with other ministries such as Agriculture to train youths to be self-employed by benefiting from the State Agricultural Services and Training Centre (ASTC).
