Plateau State Government is set to partner with the ICT department, University of Louisiana USA in providing online information and communication technology courses. The State Commissioner for information Professor Comfort Piwuna stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

She said that the courses will range from Certificates, Diplomas, (Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate) Degrees in ICT. Piwuna said that the State University in Bokkos and State Polytechnic in Barkin Ladi will serve as pilot centres for the program.

”The Plateau Government has agreed to provide the centres and the halls, while the American ICT university will provide the required facilities needed for the effective take-off of the programme.”

The commissioner said the corporation between the Government and the ICT University was brought to fore considering the high demands of ICT skills in the State and Country at large. She urged Plateau citizens to take advantage of the opportunity towards attaining a technology driven 21st century.

”We have gone very far with the negotiations. In fact, the university’s team will be coming to Plateau in April to inspect the facilities in the proposed centres and sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the state government”.
