The Plateau state chairman of the newly formed and registered political party Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), Alhaji Usman Ibrahim Abubakar stated that they are doing all they can to permanently dislodge PDP from being the ruling party in Plateau state and Nigeria at large.
In an interview with viewpoint correspondent, PDM chairman was optimistic that PDM will be the next ruling party in Plateau state. His words: ‘we are a formidable party. We can fight it alone. We know we can beat PDP hands down in 2015, “quote me anywhere Mr. Journalist that’s why we don’t need to align with any political party”. But if other political parties wish to merge with us, our doors are widely opened’.

He further stated that ‘PDM is rooted at the grassroots. We are fully prepare for anything politically that will come up even before 2015, even the forth coming Local Government polls’. Asked what informed their collective decision to form PDM he responded thus: ‘the collective people of PDM are democrats. We believe in democracy. There is no democracy in PDP that was why PDM which was a pressure group under PDP had to opt out to again have its lone identity, similar to how it was during the time of Shehu Musa Yaradua.
On the proposed national conference designed by president Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Abubakar throws his weight behind the decision and said it’s a welcome development.
