The Plateau State Association UK, has issued a communique sympathizing with the Governor and people of Plateau state over the recent attacks in Bassa, Wereh and environs.
The communique which is signed by the association’s President, Mrs Josephine Ibrahim condemned the killings, while calling on relevant authorities to step up efforts at eradicating the menace. It read:
“The Plateau State Association (PSA) UK notes with great dismay the attacks which have ravaged Bassa LGA and Wereh (Barkin Ladi) in the past few week and wishes to offer its condolence to the Governor and the good people of Plateau state for the unfortunate loss of lives.
As the diaspora extension of Plateau state in the UK, we are incredibly pained by what has happened and wish to assure Plateau citizens that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them in these trying times. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost their loved ones in the dastard attacks –we denounce in strong terms the killing of defenceless women, children and citizens.
As an association, we understand the angst and frustration that is currently being felt in various parts of Plateau, and wish to appeal to citizens to remain law abiding and not take issues into their hands. We remain committed to working with PLSG and relevant agencies to bring succour to Plateau state.
In order to bring immediate relief to people who have been displaced by the troubles, we are organising a fund raising campaign on 4th November 2017 at the VUK Banqueting Suite, Park Place, Chiswick W3 8JY, London – UK. All are invited.
The Plateau State Governor, Barr. Simon Lalong has been slated as the Special Guest of Honour, while Senator J T Useni will be the chairman.
May God restore peace in Plateau state.”
