The Plateau State Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with William Duncan Hydro Electricity Limited to construct a 32 megawatts hydroelectricity plant in Kwol, Bassa local government council of the state.
According to the state commissioner for water resources and energy, Mr. Jafaru Wuyep, the project when completed will boost and bring stability in electricity supply to the state and its environs. He further disclosed that the hydroelectricity plant is the first indigenous power plant after NESCO which has been providing energy for approx. 100. He disclosed that when the new plant is completed, it will have a lifespan of150 years.
Wuyep further disclosed that the contractor has 30 months to complete and pass over the project to Plateau state government noting that the MOU is not just to put pen on paper, but that the APC led government under the watch of Barr. Simon Lalong is determined to see the completion of the project in his first tenure.
