Plateau PDP expresses dismay over Barkin Ladi killings, calls Gov Lalong to return to post

The PDP in Plateau state has released a terse statement expressing deep concern about the ongoing onslaught in Barkin Ladi LGA.

See the full statement below:

================================

The Peoples Democratic Party received with rude shock the level of  genocide going on now in Gashish District, Razat, Ruku Nyarr and Gana-Ropp, all in Barkin Ladi Local Government. We also note with great pains the dastardly  attacks ongoing  in many other local government areas in the State by the Fulani militias.

We condemn in the strongest terms the level of continuous genocide of Plateau people. At the moment Barkin ladi is under siege by the marabus with  over 130 people feared to have been killed . As at time of this statement, the (SOM)  CAPRO school of missions Gana-Ropp is under heavy attack by the militias.

We note painfully that while this unfortunate and deliberate attempt  to wipe out Plateau people is systematically going on a daily basis,  our dear absentee-governor has been away for the past three weeks.

Governor lalong’s continuous display of dead conscience towards Plateau people should be seen as a collective collaboration against the people.

This unholy act of systematic genocide and the destruction of the cultural heritage of plateau people must stop.

We call on the international community to come to the aid of Plateau people as besides the over 130 people killed many are missing.

While we mourn our people, we are calling on this failed, incompetent and ineffective APC government at all levels to for once be sensitive  by discharging its constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and properties of its citizens. While killings are going on, the President is busy telling members of the international community that  Nigeria is safe for investment and tourism. While the Federal Government is planning to pump hundreds of billions of Naira into the construction of cattle ranches in states implementing the ban on open grazing, killings are ongoing in states that have not put in place any ban on open grazing.

We pray God to grant those that have been massacred eternal rest, and provide comfort to bereaved families and the entire people of the state.
