Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, has review plan to partner with Dangote Group of Companies in the production of wheat, rice, tomato, and solid mineral exploration and processing in the state.
Lalong stated this yesterday during an investment visit to Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote at his corporate headquarters, Marble House, Ikoyi, Lagos.
In a press statement signed by Director of Press and Public Affairs, Emmanuel Nanle, Lalong alsohope to partnered Dangote in reviving ailing industries in the state.
“We intend to woo the investment interest of the billionaire investor in core areas of agriculture with emphasis on wheat, rice, tomato and Irish potatoes in large scale production, solid mineral exploration and processing as well as the establishment of ago based industries and capital injection on a public private partnership into the revitalization of ailing industries in the state.”
Lalong said his administration was willing to do all on her part in terms of policy formulation, tax holidays, provision of land and to guarantee security of lives and properties of the company in the state.
He disclosed that government had secured the Federal Government’s support to secure all mining sites in the state not under any subsisting lease from the encroachment of illegal artisan miners. The governor assured Dangote group that the state had concluded arrangement to reacquire the former BARC Farms which has a wide expanse of about 5000 hectares and to also open up the Bokkos farm project with his existing 3009 hectares for investment in agriculture.
Chairman, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote commended the governor for the steady return of peace in the state.
He said the violent conflicts that engulfed Plateau State in the past had hindered investors from investing in the state, saying now that peace has return, he is ready to invest in the state.
“My company is interested in investing in Plateau State because of the good atmospheric weather. I appreciate the governor for keying into the new global trend of employment creation and revenue generation through private sector participation.
“We are ready to send our team of consultants to engage government on possible area of interest.”
