Plateau NUJ condemns attack on 7 Journalist in Jos

By Golok Nanmwa, Jos

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council on Wednesday condemned in its totality the unwarranted attack on Plateau Radio Television Corporation’s (PRTVC’s) crew on Tuesday night at Dadin Kowa area of Jos.

This was contained in a statement signed by Paul Jatau, the Chairman and Peter Amine Secretary and made available to newsmen in Jos.

The statement reads:

“These innocent and harmless journalists who were in a branded vehicle that was conveying them from night duty to their respective homes at about 10:30pm on the 17th of August at the close of work did no one any harm.

“That journalists are, to all discerning people, a bridge between the government and the citizenry thus being deliberately targeted is unacceptable.

“The Union will not stand by and watch its members being harmed.

The NUJ is therefore calling on security agencies to apprehend the miscreants to forestall future occurrence and since the area is identified, the community should be made to fix the vehicle the miscreants destroyed.

“This is imperative because the said unfortunate event took place during curfew hours. The statement further added
