Plateau: Local Government Commission plans mass redeployment of staff

News available to ViewPointNigeria indicates that the Plateau State Local Government Service commission has decided to redeploy its workers across the 17 Local Government Areas in the state.

This decision was made while the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Henry Lankwap was defending its 2017 budget before the House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Lankwap said redeploying personnel across the state is the only way to ensure progress in the LGA’s.

Speaking, he said, “most of these people, because of their long stay in those LGAs, get themselves involved in the local politics of the area, thereby becoming obstacles in the council’s wheel of progress.

The permanent secretary said it was unethical for a staff to spend more than three years working in a particular local council, adding that such personnel usually become deeply involved in local politics.

Lankwap stated that the action would ensure seriousness and instill discipline in the conduct of the personnel, thereby making things work at the local councils.

The Chairman of the House Committee, Ibrahim Baba-Hassan, concluded by assuring Lankwap that the committee’s will support him in achieving his plan.
