More reactions have continued to trail the dissolution of Council Chairmen in Plateau State by the Governor, Barrister Simon Lalong, as the PDP has said his administration is “clueless about governance and what it takes to run a government in a civil democracy”.

“It was and it still remains our strong view that the Simon Lalong government remains terrifically clueless about governance and what it takes to run a government in a civil democracy.

This was disclosed by the Secretary of the party, Mr. Amos Gwong, Saturday in Jos, while briefing journalists at the party secretariat; saying “this is the position of the PDP Chairmen and Councillors in the State.

Gwong said, “Recent body language from the Simon Lalong government that was well rehearsed and displayed by his political cohorts showed the Governor’s lack of political will to control his inert will.

“Like the wind being tossed here and there, the Governor lacks a sense of focus and direction and acts on impulses, and speaks from both ends of his mouth, making him unstable, and a situational leader without a defined perspective.

On the real intention of governor Lalong to dissolve the Councils, he said, “This month’s allocation to the 17 LGAs was the largest this year, where the sum of N40 billion was to be shared to these Local Councils to pay their staff and run the government at that level of governance.

“There is no doubt that the emergency dissolution cannot be far from the insatiable quest and thirst of this government to dip their hands in the accounts of these LGCs, a practice that was visible between 2001-2007, where the present governor was the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

“This government should know that all eyes are on them to see what will be done with this N40 billion meant for the 17 LGCs and thenceforth.

He added that why was the APC Government in a hurry to dissolve a legally constituted local government, whose tenure was to terminate February, 2017, using flimsy excuses of disloyalty, without following due processes.

The PDP stalwart lamented that, the Governor dissolved the Councils, in spite of an existing Court Order restraining him from tempering with the structures of the 17 LGAs.

“What is the role of the Plateau State House of Assembly in this matter? Or has the Governor unchallenged powers to temper with the constitution of this country considering that even in 2005, under his watchful eyes and presiding, the Plateau State Law to provide for the establishment of Local Government Councils in Plateau State and for their structure, composition, functions, finance.

“To provide for the establishment of development areas, to repeal the local government law 2005 and for purposes connected therewith be explained”.

“One might ask further, disloyalty in what form, how and why?

“This government is in great default of this and it must show enough courage to correct her constitutional wrong by abiding to the true tenets of democratic practices.

The PDP Chieftain warned that, “Failure for the Governor to immediately suspend his unpopular stance on this matter, we call on the Plateau State House of Assembly to investigate the circumstances that propelled the Governor to act the way he did and if found to have violated or bridged the constitution, to commence his impeachment immediately to save our nascent democracy from the hands of charlatans”.
