The Plateau state Local Government Elections Petitions Tribunal has confirmed the electoral victory of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Langtang North Local Government chairmanship election. The tribunal sitting in Jos ruled that Mr Nanmwa Kumzhi of the PDP won the council election.

Justice Halima Nshi who is the Chairman of the tribunal dismissed the petition instituted by Mr Daniel Dul of the Democratic People Party (DPP) who was challenging the election of Kumzhi. She stated that the petitioner could not provide ample evidence to buttress the allegation of rigging and forgery of results in Jat ward of the council.

She added that the judgement was based on the Supreme Court ruling of Obasanjo vs Buhari in 2003 and that no result was produced by the witnesses. The tribunal then ruled based on the evidence provided.
