A lawmaker in Plateau House of Assembly has constructed a bridge worth several millions, linking six communities in Beni Ward in Pankshin Local Government Area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent in Pankshin on Friday said that the lawmaker, Mr Diket Plang, representing Pankshin North in the State House of Assembly, began the project in March.
Our correspondent, who visited the site of the project, also reported that the project was about 95 per cent complete as the contractor was only putting finishing touches to it.

NAN reports that the people of the six communities had been finding it difficult to travel to the headquarters of the council or transport their farm produce due to the poor condition of the bridge. The bridge, when completed, would link the six communities to the council’s headquarters.
In a remark, the site Engineer, Mr Vincent Yakubu, said the bridge would soon be inaugurated. “As you can see, the project is near completion and we hope to hand it over to the lawmaker for inauguration. “All we want is for the people of the communities to continue to give the support they have been giving to my construction staff at the site,” he said. Plang told NAN that he was moved to embark on the project when the people cried to him about their plight.
The lawmaker, who said he was satisfied with the quality of work, pledged to partner with relevant agencies toward executing people oriented projects for the people of his constituency. “All I look forward to is the cooperation of the people of my constituency to enable me do more for them as their representative, ” Plang pledged.
Mr Joel Yuluk, a representative of the Elders Forum of the six communities in the ward, described the lawmaker as “a true representative of the people”. (NAN)
