The Plateau State House of Assembly yesterday said the order stopping two mining companies operating at Zurak, a mining site in Wase Local Government Area of the State pending the outcome of an investigative committee on mining set up by the assembly, still stands.
The Chairman of House Committee on Solid Minerals and deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Yusuf Gagdi, who led other members of the committee to about five mining sites in Wase, said no agreement was reached with any mining firm in Zurak to resume exploration and ordered the two concerned companies to maintain the status quo.
Gagdi who gave further clarification to our correspondent yesterday, said earlier than now, the two mining companies; Jotex Ltd and solid units operating in Zurak, were asked to stop mining activities due to issues with their host community.
