Plateau Regeneration Group PRG yesterday condemned the attack in some communities in Bassa and Riyom Local Government Areas of the state and urged stakeholders of the state to support Governor Simon Lalong to ensure that lasting peace is restored in the state .

“we urge the citizens of Plateau State to rise and support the Government to deal with a common enemy that is bent on disrupting the peace of the State. This is no time for politics, blame game and peddling lies and propaganda”.

The group in a statement signed by Pam Datri the spokesman of the group also urged some stakeholders to stop playing politics with the killings and attacks .

“Governor Simon Lalong has the interest of all Plateau citizens at heart and would always stand by his people at all times .”

As a group we commend our Governor Simon Lalong for immediately summoning a security meeting inorder to work to ensure that peace is restored in Plateau .

“We are confident that the Simon Lalong led Government will engage all stakeholders in addressing the matter with a view to bringing an end to the unfortunate and unacceptable attacks on innocent citizens aimed at disrupting the peace of the affected areas and the State at large.”

“We also commend Lalong for been proactive and directing the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Peace Building Agency (PBA) to immediately go to the affected communities to provide humanitarian assistance and sue for Peace.”

“As a group we call on all stakeholders to rally round Governor Simon Lalong to end this spate of attacks , we condemn the attitude of some Politicians especially the lawmaker representing Irigwe in the house of assembly for resorting to blackmail or playing politics instead of rallying roundGovernor Simon Lalong and security operatives to end the killings in the state .”

Governor Simon Lalong has done well in restoring peace in the state ,the group added that at the inauguration of the Governor Simon Bako Lalong led administration in Plateau State, the governor made it clear that his government is coming with a clear vision for the development of the state and would, as a matter of priority concentrate on five areas which policy has been termed the 5- Point Policy Thrust.

These are peace, security and good governance; human capital development and social welfare; agriculture and rural development; entrepreneurship and industrialization; and physical infrastructure and environment.

Taking serious the fact that without peace there cannot be meaningful development, the current administration immediately set out to work out Strategies that would ensure a lasting peace in the state.
Part of the strategies devised was to put in place an inclusive government, that gives every section of the state a sense of belonging as part of the problems of the past it was observed, was the feeling of alienation by certain parts of the state.

This policy made it imperative not to unnecessarily malign a particular section but to take everybody along in the scheme of things in terms of project allocation and appointments for the mutual benefit of all citizens of the state.
Having achieved that, the government realized that to go side by side with this policy of an all inclusive government is to pursue dialogue with warring communities and find out what exactly was the sore point that has made it difficult for people to line together and work proactively towards resolving such issues.

The Governor further established the peacebuilding agency and has been working with several groups and Non Governmental organisation to bring lasting peace in the state .

“We call for calm and sympathy with the victims and their families .”

The group called on security operatives to go after those attacking Innocent villagers so that they should be made to pay for their heinous actions .”
