The Plateau Commissioner for Information, Mr Ahmed Nazeef, on Tuesday, said the state government had completed arrangements to revive the state’s Publishing Corporation in order to boost its revenue.
Nazeef disclosed this in Jos when he paid a familiarisation visit to the Corporation.
The commissioner, who decried the current state of the Corporation, noted that if revived, it could be a huge source of revenue generation for the state.
He said many of the machines purchased by the past administration were not installed for about two years.
He, however, assured the management of the Corporation that the government would revive the place which in the 1970’s was used for the production of exercise books, toilet rolls, commercial printing and for the production of the Nigerian Standard dailies.
MrsYankat Wannang, the acting administrator of the Corporation who received the commissioner, thanked him for the visit, and hinted that due to the obsolete and faulty nature of the machines, the Nigerian Standard newspaper, which was meant to be a daily paper, was only produced twice in a week.
She appealed to the state government to rescue the organisation.
