Plateau Gov. Gives Shoot at Sight Orders on Illegal Miners around Lamingo Dam

News available to ViewPointNigeria indicates that the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who are stationed around Lamingo Dam have been given orders to shoot at sight any illegal miners found around the area.
This order was passed by the Plateau State government after an illegal miner drowned in the dam on Monday night, while trying to swim across the dam in order to boycott the security in the area.
The body of the deceased was recovered on Tuesday afternoon by the local fishermen in the area.
While visiting the site, the Plateau State Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, Eng. Jafaru Wuyep said the place has been placed under 24 hours surveillance and the government is currently working on plans to fence the dam, to prevent intruders from trespassing.
Speaking, Acting General Manager of Plateau State Water Board, Lambert Gonzuk said there was no need for people to get worried about their drinking water as the water distributed by the waterboarding within Jos metropolis is properly treated.
