A Plateau state delegate at the on- going National Conference, Professor Dakum Shown has decried the practice where elected officials take advantage and abuse the use of official vehicles to the detriment of the people they were elected to serve.

Shown who was contributing at plenary during a debate yesterday said all official vehicles for elected officers in the country must be cut by 80% and those entitled should use cars assembled in Nigeria.

The delegate who spoke while debate on the report of Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government was discussed went down memory lane. He said that as speaker he his official vehicle was a Peugeot 406 with a Volkswagen car back up. He lamented the norm now which allows the convoy of Local Government Chairmen and Governors to rival that of Mr President.
