The Plateau State Association, (PSA) UK in partnership with the Plateau State Government, have made an audacious effort to ameliorate the plight of internally displaced people in various camps in Jos, Plateau State.
Through its charity initiative, the association today September 11th 2018, reached out to IDP camps in Bassa and Riyom LGAs – delivering relief materials to the Bassa community (through its paramount ruler, the Bra Ngwe Irigwe, Rev. Ranku Aka) and the counterpart leaders in Riyom LGA. Furthermore, tomorrow, September 12th 2018, it is planned that the efforts will continue into IDP camps in Heipang and Barkin Ladi , with camps in Bokkos and Mangu slated for Friday 13th September.
For distribution are hundreds of bags of staple food, toiletries, mattresses, cooking oil, blankets and other exotic items.
Being a diaspora organisation, the Plateau State Association has been at the forefront of bringing relief to the desperate people displaced by the genocide, but also at spotlighting the ethnic cleansing angles as a means of drawing international attention to the false “clash” narratives being peddled.
Of note, is the “international cultural day fund raising event” which the association undertook in November 2017 to raise funds for the cause. During this event, the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Simon Lalong graciously attended and donated generously to the cause. Along with Governor Lalong were members of his entourage which included the Gbong Gwom Jos, Long Goemai and the Emir of Kanam.
In addition to the fundraising efforts, the association has played a leading role in spotlighting the injustices of the killings on the Plateau, by organising protests and media events, including several at the Nigeria High Commission, London and media sensitisation campaigns on BEN TV – London, GNTV London etc.
Mr Yakubu D Choji, the executor of the Plateau State Association, UK was mandated by the PSA UK president, Mr. Rwang David Chall and his committee. He was supported by Dr. Solomon Mangvwat and Mrs Tani Temple, both of the Plateau State Association.
