Dakwom Makpring Longgul reports from JOS, NIGERIA –
The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially debunked a “consensus list” currently circulating on social media, labeling the document as unauthorized and misleading. Speaking at an event organized by the APC patriotic front at the Eleiel Centre, rayfiled Jos, the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Wumana Bako, urged party members and the general public to disregard the viral communique, which purports to show an endorsed list of candidates for various legislative and executive positions.
Bako emphasized that any official party decision regarding candidate selection would be formally authorized and communicated through the proper leadership channels, rather than emerging unverified on digital platforms.
Hon. Bako further reassured party faithful that the APC remains committed to transparency and the principles of internal democracy as enshrined in the Electoral Act.
He noted that the party provides two distinct pathways for selecting candidates: consensus or direct primaries. “As a party, we have promised to provide a level playing field for all who are aspiring,” Bako stated, adding that the leadership will utilize the tools provided by the law to ensure a fair process. He concluded by pleading with stakeholders and aspirants to remain patient and await official directives as the party works toward a unified decision
