News reaching ViewPointNigeria indicates that the Plateau state chapter of the Association Of Local Government Of Nigeria (ALGON) has approached the courts to restrain the governor, Simon Lalong from dissolving their councils as presently constituted.

This development was made known to our reporter by Yusuf Ado, chairman of Kanam Local government area. Yusuf ado stated that in order not to be taken unawares, the LG chairmen under the auspices of Algon, decided to act fast by approaching the courts to restrain the Plateau state governor from dissolving their administration as has been the norm of every new governor in the state.

The chairmen took the action in response to rife speculation in Plateau that the new APC governor is under immense pressure to dissolve the PDP LG administrations in order to re-constitute them into management committees, so that compensations can be given to APC members who worked for the success of the party in the last general elections in the state.

Currently, 16 of the 17 LGAs in state are chaired by PDP chairmen.
