Jos — Confusion has beclouded the road to the Plateau State Government House in 2015, as those aspiring to succeed the current governor, Jonah Jang, are in the dark on which Senatorial Zone the baton would be handed.

Consequently, Jang has called on the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to pray for a good successor, who will continue from where his government stops.

Similarly, crisis has engulfed the main opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), as it has produced two chairmen, who are claiming to be leaders of the party in the state.

Jang at the weekend repeatedly told PFN leaders that visited his Jishe Government Lodge in Jos that he was waiting on God to anoint his successor since his coming to power had the anointing of God.

According to Jang, he does not deserve all the good things that people are saying about him, adding that the state needs a bold and courageous person to take over the mantle of leadership from him, who can stand his ground in the face of daunting challenges that confronts the state, especially in area of security.

Jang directed all his commissioners to properly prepare hand over notes to give his successor complete and comprehensive information upon which to continue with the work they had started.

The Acting Chairman of PFN Plateau State chapter, Pastor David Adegboye, who led the delegation, said their visit was to appreciate the governor for the good work he was doing on the Plateau and to pray for him.

However, it was gathered from some of the governorship aspirants in the state that they would not come out full blast to open campaign offices until Jang gives them the direction they would follow to avoid what happened to the immediate past PDP chairman of the state, Haruna Dabin, who declared his interest to run for 2015 governorship election while Jang was overseas and was advised to resign his seat on the governor’s return.

It was further gathered that some of the aspirants have resorted to taking their campaigns to their local government party secretariats and paramount rulers, including making consultations, pending when Jang will address the stakeholders on the way forward.

Similarly, the main opposition party Chairman, Letep Dabang’s leadership has been challenged by Senator John Shagaya, who penultimate week, produced another factional chairman, Amos Gombil, who came second during the party state congresses that was held in Jos.

Shagaya claimed to have acted on the premise of a letter he received from the National Secretariat of the party following a petition written by Gombil against Dabang to the effect that Letep was a staff of the National Assembly and Personal Assistant to Senator Dariye.

At the moment, Plateau APC has two state secretariats in Jos, with no hope of inaugurating the local councils executive committees as long as the crisis in the party leadership lasted.
