Today Friday 19th January 2017 saw the Northern Governors Forum pay a condolence visit to Benue state to condole governor Samuel Ortom and the people of the state for the recent spate of attacks that killed over 73 people.
In the delegation was Governor Simon Lalong, the Chairman of the Northern Governor’s Forum (Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Alh. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state, Alh Yahaya Bello of Kogi state and the Deputy Governor of Osum State (Mrs Titilayo Tomori).
Arriving in Makurdi Airport this morning, the group went to the Government House and met with Governor Ortom and top government functionaries.
It would be recalled, that last week there were reports that Governor Samuel Ortom was finalising plans to withdraw from the Northern Governor’s forum because of the group’s silence and dis-interest over the killings in Benue. The visit from the governor sought to pacify ill-feelings and get the Governor back squarely into the Northern fold.
Governor Samuel Ortom welcomed his colleagues and expressed readiness to work with them to find a lasting solution to the raging troubles.
