 Federation of International Women Lawyers (FIDA) on Friday, donated relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Daffo district of Bokkos Local Government of Plateau.

It would be recalled that six communities in Daffo were recently attacked by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen with scores of victims killed.

Mrs Mary Abah, FIDA Chairperson in Plateau said that the core mandate of FIDA is to render humanitarian services to women and children who are most vulnerable during crises situations.

Abah said that the organisation was non political and non profit making but stand for peace, unity and mutual respect.

The chairperson stated that the organisation with 32 branches across the country was sad with the recent happenings in the country.

She said many vulnerable women and children were killed on daily basis in attacks.

Abah appealed to Federal Government step up its efforts in the protection of lives and property across country.

She stated the relief materials was to assist the victims who she said were going through very difficult times.

“We know that this materials would not solve  your problems but we believe it will assist you in small way,” she said.

Our correspondent reports that the relief materials donated by FIDA include; clothings and toiletries.

Mr John Danjuma a community leader of Daffo who received the materials on behalf of the victims, pledged judicious distribution of the materials to the affected persons.

Danjuma said that community leadership was doing all it could to ensure that the people live in peace.

He said that development can only thrive if there is peace  and hence the need for all to stay in peace.

Rev.Jacob Machief who lost his wife, called on the government to come to their aid by strengthening security structure.

Machief also appealed to government to assist them (victims) some building materials to enable them to rebuild their houses so that they  can go back to their respective communities.
