The lecture was titled “Population dynamics, security and humanitarian challenges in Central Nigeria” -presented by the keynote speaker Prof. C J Dakas of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Abuja.
The event is the first of several activities organised to mark the birthday of the Governor and was undertaken at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru on Friday 14th March 2014.
In attendance were several notable personalities from all works of life including politicians, retired military Generals, religious leaders, traditional leaders and academics. Some of these personalities included: Rtd Lt. Gen. J T Useni, Rtd. Gen. Domkat Bali, Senator Victor Lar, Senator D B Zang, Senator G N S Pwajok, Mrs. Pauline Tallen, Mr. Damishi Sango, Mrs. Sarah Ochekpe, Ambassor Ignatius Lonjan, Bishop Kwashi, Gbong Gwom Jos Da. Gyang Buba, Emir of Wase, Emir of Kanam, Dep. Gov of Niger State, Prof. Dakum Shown, Mr. Bitrus Kaze, Speak Titus Alams, Prof. Shedrach Best, Dr. Jonah Madugu amongst many others.
The event witnessed very high turn-out and affirms the strong grip that Governor Jonah Jang currently has on affairs on the Plateau. Not only is this grip clearly demonstrated in the turn-out of this event, it was also evident in the just concluded Local Government elections where the PDP virtually crushed the opposition, leaving them licking their wounds and making their leaders realise that their influence on state affairs is minimal and thus, many of them have started strategising on how to dump their respective parties and join the PDP. Some of these leaders/politicians have already approached the National Secretariat of PDP in Abuja and may have been directed to begin to work with the state Chapter before being considered for re-absorbtion.
Below are the pictures: Note: Pictures for other events relating to the birthday shall be posted separately, watch out for them.
