The Deputy Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Plateau State council, Captain Jemda Ayuba, has bemoaned the waning welfare of pensioners in the country. He was speaking at the launch of the 2014 Armed Forces Remembrance and Emblem Appeal week that took place at the conference hall of Government house in Jos. The legionnaire said that the welfare in the country at present has worsened rather than improve.
Ayuba said “Our welfare as pensioners is currently getting worse than it used to be. The situation is the same all over the 36 states of the federation with the exception of Plateau and Anambra States respectively.The lives of pensioners are unsecured; we are subjected to endless screening and made to travel thousands of kilometres to get our monthly pension.”
