MISLEADING AND FALSE REPORT ON HON SANGO’S RESIGNATION
The attention of supporters of the PDP and the State Chairman, Chief DT Sango, is drawn to reports being circulated on media that the State Chairman of the PDP in Plateau State, Chief DT Sango, has tendered his resignation letter today in a meeting chaired by Sen JT Useini. In a countered report from the Special Adviser to the State Chairman on Media and Communications, Hon Emma Macham, said the story is false and misleading.
To put the records straight, the leader of the party in Plateau State and the Gubernatorial Candidate of the party, Sen. J. T. Useni, summoned a stakeholders meeting to brief them on what transpired between stakeholders from Plateau State and the National Working Committee headed by Chief Uche Secondus in Abuja, last Friday.
In reporting what happened, Sen Useini said that it will be recalled that some Exco members of our party wrote a petition against the leadership of the party led by Chief DT Sango and his Deputy, Hon Amos Goyol Gombi, on allegations of funds diversion.
The National Headquarters set up a committee led by Sen David Mark to investigate the allegations. The committee did a very thorough job and submitted its report back to the National Working Committee.
The following resolutions were made:
- Chief DT Sango and Hon Amos Gombi were exonerated from all the allegations.
- The NWC ordered the (16) persons who wrote the petition to withdraw their allegations and tender an apology in writing, to Chief DT Sango through the NWC.
- Chief DT Sango, after receiving such letter and a letter exonerating him of any wrong doing from the National Headquarters, will step aside and handover affairs of the state chapter to his Deputy, Hon. Amos Gombi, as directed by the NWC
- Sen Useini announced the upliftment of Chief DT Sango to a BOT member of the PDP for his sacrifice, as announced by the NWC.
- Sen. Gen JT Useini was announced, according to our party Constitution, as the leader of the party in Plateau State.
Those were the resolutions reached at the National Headquarters.
Useini assured the stakeholders of his readiness to ensure that our party move forward.
He said that this meeting could have taken place on Wednesday, but our National Assembly Members requested for a shift to Friday as they would be involved in budget debate. He however, stated that for some of them to now send in apologies was uncalled for.
The PDP Leader cautioned persons who are fond of writing unnecessary petitions against leaders to be careful as what you did today may be done to you tomorrow. He advised that we should continue to pray for the success of our case at the appeal court. He reiterated that he is ever ready to follow the case to logical conclusion in other to retrieve our mandate.
Contributing, various Stakeholders applauded the decision of the National Secretariat. They particularly praised Chief DT Sango for demonstrated maturity by accepting to step down as soon as he receives the letter of exoneration from the National Secretariat. They said the decision of the State Chairman is a sacrifice that only an elder with high reputation and principle would make.
Hon. Sango, in a remark praised the National Secretariat for taking a bold step in resolving the problem in the State which was created by some selfish and overzealous members of the party in the State. He stated that as a right thinking person he could not have thought continue to work in the midst of Exco members who have exhibited high degree of hatred on him, adding that if fellow human beings can go to that extend of hatred by refusing to accept even handshake and pleasantries from a fellow human being, then it will be unimaginable what will happen to him while in their midst as their Chairman.
Hon Macham confirmed that Chief DT Sango will definitely resign once he receives the letters of apology and exoneration from the National Secretariat. The State Chairman has promised to handover to the State Deputy Chairman, Hon Amos Gombi, when the time comes, in a world press conference.
