PDP Plateau South Senatorial By-election Primaries: Slow appearance of Delegates at Election Ground Delays Process

As the People’s Democratic Party in Plateau Southern Zone converge in Shendam Local Goveenment Area, the Zonal Headquarters, the slow appearance of delegates at the election ground may likely affect the conduct of the election as it may delays the process to a greater extent.

With permutations still ongoing, four aspirants are still in the race jostling for the ticket .

The Aspirants are Rt. Hon. George Daika, Rt. Hon. Michael Dapialong, Barr. Philip Peter Nyitni, and Mr. Chrysantus Dawam.

Viewpoint gathered from one of the candidates Mr. Chrysantus Dawam, rising from a gentleman arrangement meeting that Ja’afaru Damulak has stepped down for him; this accounts for the drop in the number of candidates from the original five to four.

As the time of filing this report, over 90% of delegates were not available to vote.

So far, only statutory delegates from Wase LGA have been accredited and successfully voted. Other delegates from Wase are currently being accredited and let into the polling booth to cast their votes.

In his opening address to delegates and party faithfuls, the chairman of the senatorial by-election committee conducting the primaries for PDP Plateau Southern Zone, Sen. Mao Ohabunwan assured candidates, delegates and supporters of a transparent, free and fair process as PDP is one family.

So far, the environment is calm and peaceful.
