Ahead of the December, 8th, 2014, gubernatorial PDP primaries, a group under the aegis of Political Re-awakening Support Team (PREST) from

Leader of the group, Jonathan Amande stated this while briefing journalists in Jos, Thursday. The group said, “Plateau people must shun rotational leadership and go
for credibility.

The group which is drumming support for the candidature of Sen. Gyang Pwajok, decried that, “Ethnicity rather than political ideology plays
more dominant role in the choice of political leaders.

“It is disheartening that political participation is distinctively polarised along ethnic, religious and sectional lines. They further
lamented.

They further
lamented.

“We must shift from this. We are not more ethnically and religiously diverse than the United States of America. Yet Americans do not
clamour for rotational leadership.

The group stressed that, “Rotation is not constitutional and not even a democratic principle.
Adding that, therefore, it is not out of place for Senator Pwajok to aspire to govern the State, even if he hails from the same zone with
Governor Jonah Jang.

The group explained that, in the over 225 years of democratic rule in America, only 18 out of its 50 States have produced the nation’s
presidents; saying New York alone has produced 7 out of the 44 presidents.

It further explained that, America’s 6th John Quincy Adams, was the son of the nation’s 2nd leader, while the most recent one is that of
the 43rd president, George Walker Bush, who is the son of the 41st president of America.

“The Kennedys are refered to as America’s royal family, because of their acceptibility by Americans for leadership, on the basis of
credibility.

“It is not where a leader comes from, but what he can offer”.
