Pankshin (Plateau), April 7, 2016 (NAN) Mr Stephen Jings, Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Management Committee in Plateau, said the council had identified 138 boreholes for rehabilitation as part of its efforts to provide potable water to the people.
Jings made the disclosure on Thursday in Pankshin when the management staff of Plateau Water Board paid him a visit.
“This administration is so concerned about the well being of the people and has decided to provide clean and safe drinking water to them.
“We have, therefore, penciled down 138 boreholes for rehabilitation across the council within this year alone, ’’ he said.
Jings, who is also the Plateau ALGON Chairman, however, expressed dismay that most of the boreholes sunk by the past administration were not functioning.
The chairman said that the commendation letter given to him in recognition of his efforts at ensuring the provision of water in Pankshin would be dedicated to his management team.
Earlier, Mr Lambat Gwamzuk, acting General Manager of Plateau Water Board, said they were in Pankshin to present a commendation letter to the chairman for connecting the board’s treatment plant with electricity.
Gwamzuk pledged to convey the chairman’s good gesture to Gov. Simon Lalong and pledged to do all they could to end the perennial water scarcity in Pankshin town. (NAN)
