News reaching ViewPointNigeria suggests that the chairman, Pankshin local government area of Plateau State, Samuel Goar, has distributed 150 bags of rice to over 1600 widows and 200 physically challenged persons in the council.
Speaking while presenting the items Goar, explained that the gestures was the council management’s way of expressing its love and care to the needy at Christmas.
In his words: “This is Christmas period, a time to show love to people around us, and we feel you widows alongside the physically challenged be touched by our warm love and care. “
“We hope this will help restore the disappearing smiles on your faces because it is a mark of love and kindness demonstrated to us by God Almighty. “

Goar called on the widows to give thanks to God, who made it possible for the council to extend such gesture to them at Christmas. Also speaking at the occasion , Rev Michael Istifanus, of the Church of Christ in Nigeria, COCIN, Pankshin, described the attitude of the council boss as “Biblical “and worthy of emulation by all and sundry in the society.
The clergy said Christmas was a period to show love especially to the needy and loved ones in compliance to the biblical injunctions, haven tested that of God, who sacrificed his only begotten son, Jesus Christ for mankind’s sake.
Responding on behalf of the widows, Mrs Juliana Dimlong, thanked the council chairman and his management team for the gesture.
Dimlong prayed God to bless the council management and help them to succeed in their endeavour for development and growth of the council, Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.
