Reports reaching ViewPointNigeria indicates that palpable tension is rife in the Dadin Kowa/Zarmaganda axis as a handful of Hausa youth were said to have intermittently blocked the expressway, burning tyres, harassing/beating motorist and smashing their wind shields.
Their actions were said to have been informed by the alleged “non-return” of 5 of their kinsmen, who left their houses this week and have not returned. The youth claim that no contact could be made with these individuals and were worried that they may have fallen prey to the recent scourge of silent killings which has bedevilled Plateau state.

Another version of the story, which ViewPointNigeria’s correspondent onground at Dadin Kowa is working assidiously to confirm is that the skirmish is between PDP and APGA supporters -mainly because of the elections which will be happening tomorrow, Tuesday 25th February. Unverified sources have confirm to our reporter that there are casualties from the debacle, however this remain unconfirmed by the relevant authorities who have failed to return our call.
At the time of filing in this report, men of the STF had taken over the area and relative calm could be said to have been returning to the area. However, a large queue of vehicles could be seen on the expressway and people in their drove could be seen standing at safe distances observing the situation.
It would be recalled that two weeks ago, ViewPointNigeria reported of similar tension in the Bukuru area, following the discovery of the corpse of three people (a widow and two young men). This development comes after a bloody February, during which over 100 people were killed in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South LGAs.
This is happening ahead of the much anticipated Local Government elections tomorrow and some individuals are already speculating that the whole protest is a cheap ploy to forment trouble, which would ultimately instill fear into people and prevent them from turning out, so that the councillor of the area emerges in the favour of a particular group.
