NLC declare Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state wanted, promises a handsome reward for anyone with useful information that could lead to his arrest.

The fisticuffs between the Kaduna state government and the labour union continues as the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has declared the executive governor of Kaduna state, His Excellency Alhaji Dr Nasir El-Rufai wanted, and consequently promised that anyone who sees him and is able to arrest him or provide the NLC with any useful information that could lead to his arrest will be handsomely rewarded.

In a manner of exchanging blows, this declaration comes shortly after Governor El-Rufai has also declared the NLC President Comrade Ayuba Waba and other leaders of the NLC wanted.

This confusion continues to loom amidst the union’s continuing strike and mass protests across Kaduna state, where the government sacked dozens of workers recently.

The spokesperson of the union, Comrade Nasir Kabir, revealed that they had also decided to launch a nationwide strike from Monday next week, citing the planned disruption of the protests on Tuesday by the Kaduna state government using thugs.

He noted that the incident prompted the group to hold an emergency meeting, during which they learned that the state governor had transferred the chairman of the Kaduna state chapter of the union to Birnin Gwari, where security was deteriorating.

”It was at this meeting that we learned that he had sacked all health workers below grade level 14, and that he had told reporters that he was looking for us.

“We call on the general public and the security forces to report to us as soon as they see El-Rufai wherever they see him, and we urge the security forces to arrest him so that he can face legal action for his decision to illegally dismiss workers.”

Meanwhile, calls have been made on both sides to douse all tensions and settle the matter amicably. The Progressives Governors Forum which is the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus of the Nigerian Governors Forum is one of the groups making such calls, where its leader the executive governor of Kebbi state, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu urged Governor El-rufai to have a round table discussion with the workers for a peaceful negotiation.

It was learnt from the NLC that her national leader, Comrade Ayuba Waba who happens to be the chairman of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), which Governor El-Rufai threatened to arrest, was in a critical meeting with the various leaders of the union around the globe regarding the situation in Nigeria.

While this confusion looms, the Nigerian Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers’ Union (NUPENG) has since threatened to totally shut down Nigeria’s oil and gas sector over what it calls “human rights abuses” that is unprecedented in human history.
