The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) recently concluded a two-day technical training workshop for its members in Jos, Plateau State. The initiative is part of the institute’s ongoing commitment to equipping members with modern technological tools relevant to 21st-century building practices, while ensuring alignment with professional standards.
The event took place from Thursday, April 24 to Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Villa Grande Hotel, Jos. It was themed “The Effective Application of Builders’ Practice Software and Preparation of Builders’ Documents.”

In his opening address, the Plateau State Chapter Chairman, Bldr. Adedeji Adeleye FNIOB, welcomed participants and highlighted the significance of the workshop’s theme. He emphasized the critical need for professional Builders to master the preparation of Builders’ Documents as part of their core responsibilities.

“Being able to produce the Builders’ Document is a vital aspect of our role in staying relevant within the construction sector,” he stated.
The program featured full-day technical sessions where participants worked hands-on, each producing their own Builders’ Document using personal laptops. The intensive training was jointly facilitated by Bldr. Ishagoro Zamfara MNIOB, Bldr. Dung Martins MNIOB, and Bldr. Adeleye Adedeji FNIOB, who led all sessions with practical demonstrations and guidance.

Participants gained direct experience in creating Construction Programs of Work and Project Quality Management Plans using sample project drawings. Additional topics covered included the use of Microsoft Project, Construction Methodology, and the preparation of Project Health and Safety Plans.
At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees expressed appreciation to the Plateau State Chapter EXCO, led by Bldr. Adeleye, for organizing a valuable and impactful learning experience. Many praised the hands-on nature of the workshop and called for similar future sessions.

The workshop recorded a daily turnout of around 50 participants. It also served as an opportunity for professional networking and peer discussions on current trends in building construction.
In closing, the Chapter’s Vice Chairperson, Bldr. Grace Wang MNIOB, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all attendees and facilitators for their participation.
