The National President of Pan Youth Association (PYA), Comrade Yonmi Dama has described thw opening of a new Agro Satelite Market in Namu area of Qua’an Pan LGA as a right step towards boosting the economic potentials of the the local government, Plateau State and Nigeria in general.
The youth leader in an interview with Journalists during the recent commissioning ceremony of the market said the locality remains the heartbeat of commerce and the biggest in revenue generation in the whole of the Local Government Area in the state.
In his words, “Today is historic because we had to move on as a people. Few months back if you could recalled, one of our yam market suffered fire inferno which cost almost hundreds of millions of Naira.
“We cried out for Government to come to our aid because the people are predominantly farmers and we saw the need to go ahead and come up with a market like this because it serve as employment opportunity for our teeming youths who are mostly graduates.”
The President explained that works has since started on the establishment of the market about a month ago. “As you can see, the named ‘JepJan Integrated Agro Resources Limited is a registered company with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
“We are following the footsteps of Government in the area of diversification of the economy from oil to agriculture. Because you cannot produce without sales, and you cannot sell without you being productive and all of these cannot take place where there is no peace.
“We are people of conscious and we are doing what we are doing because is our fundamental human rights to personal property as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution. We stood our ground because we are doing the right thing,” said Dama.
Comrade Dama called on Government at all level to extend intervention programmes to small scale businesses in the area to engaged the youths towards reducing youth reactiveness in the state and the country at large.
The Community of Namu (Jepjan) town in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State now has a new Agro satelite market to further boast the economic activities of the locality and the state after the incident of fire outbreak that burnt yams worth millions of naira in the area this year.
Secretary of Market Committee, Mr. Godfirst Dama who spoke on behalf of the Chairman, Mr. Sogotdiel Monday disclosed that the market size covers about three hundred hectres of land open for all sort economic transactions such as agro products and the likes on a daily basis.
He said the rural market has International desire and focused as been established by ‘JepJan Integrated Agro Resources Limited’ to harnessed the fast growing economic activities within the Southern zone of Plateau State with the returned of relative peace been enjoyed for the past six years.
Dama stressed that measures have been put in place to curtailed the reoccurrences of the fire incident ealier recorded this years. As the agro satellite market with daily operations will compliment the weekly market in the area considering economic activities in the area that continued attract investors from the Southern, Eastern and Western part of the country over the years trooping into the locality to buy all kind of agro products amongst others.
The official commissioning of the rural market had the presence of assorted agro products touching the ground after intensive prayers made for the progress of the market and land in both Christian and Islamic faith.
Community leaders present at the ceremony, as well as Clergymen amongst other stakeholders expressed confidence that the commencement of commercial activities at the satelite market is the beginning of good things to come in the area considering the relative peace being enjoyed since the assumption of the Governor Simon Lalong in 2015.
