A motion has been passed in the Nasarawa state of House of Assembly directing the House clerk to serve the state Governor Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura with notice of impeachment. Sixteen out of the twenty-four members held a plenary sitting where they discussed the impeachment process that was raised under Matters of Public Interest.
The legislators agreed that the impeachment process became necessary after a report of a recent probe by an adhoc committee of the House indicted Al-Makura over alleged “gross misconduct” and “Abuse of Office.”

Twenty out of the twenty four member assembly signed the impeachment. A resolution was made which directed the clerk to process and serve the Governor with an impeachment notice. It also directed that a copy be sent to the judiciary so as to start the judicial process towards the impeachment.
Honourable Musa Ahmed Mohammed who is the speaker of the assembly said that members were recalled from recess because of the urgency and importance of the issue. He did not say when the house will return for further deliberation on the matter.
