News reaching ViewPointNigeria indicates that nHub, the technology and innovative platform in jos, has been selected as one of the three centres in Nigeria to host the fifth edition of the International Space Apps Challenge.
Our report indicates that other States hosting the three days challenge which commenced on Friday include, Oyo and Kwara States which are expected to join other technology and innovation platforms in 71 countries including United States of America, United Kingdom and Australia.
Speaking to newsmen, nHub’s CEO, Daser David said at the opening ceremony of the challenge which gathered technology-savvy gurus, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators and students from various parts of the country that NASA has offered 25 challenges in six mission-related categories to include Aeronautics, Earth, International Space Stations, Journey to Mars, Solar Systems and beyond; and Space technology.
David stated that “it was on the 24th February, 2016 that we got news that nHub had been selected as a centre for hosting of the NASA international space apps challenge 2016 in Nigeria, joining Liverpool- United Kingdom, Blida- Algeria, Sydney- Australia, Ube- Japan, New York- USA as part of a global movement poised to redefine solutions and quality of life using technology.”
Our correspondent gathered that the participating teams in more than 179 locations covering 71 countries will work towards solving space related challenges by proffering solutions to world problems. The event will be concluded by Sunday with the teams presenting their solutions and global awards will be awarded to the most innovative solutions.
