My administration has awarded 22 road projects across Plateau -Gov Lalong

Plateau state governor Simon Lalong on Monday said his administration would continue to complete projects abandoned by his predecessors in the state .

He also said his administration has awarded contracts for the construction of 22 roads spread across the seventeen local government areas of the state stressing that I would never be selective in citing projects in Plateau .

Lalong made this known while interacting with newsmen in Jos at the Nigerian Union of Journalist NUJ Secretariat as part of activities marking his 3rd year in office .

He also said his administration has spent 22 billion naira on federal projects in the state.

“We would complete all projects abandoned by previous administrations in the state.”

“We have made it a duty to complete all abandoned projects in the state because the projects are for the people and not for the person that initiated them ,we have also initiate new projects and we would complete them before leaving office ,I don’t have plans of leaving any project uncompleted and I pray that the person that would take over from me would do same ,if I did not abandon the projects I inherited ,then I can not abandon the projects I started .

The governor also said “We will continue to work hard to ensure that the people of Plateau stay in peace ,my administration is determined to protect the lives of citizens of Plateau

“Recently the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris conducted a ground breaking for the newly established 66 Mobile Police Force (MPF) Squadron in Longvel, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.”

The IG also inaugurated 51 security patrol vehicles acquired by our Government for distribution to security agencies in the 17 local government areas of the state.

He said that the establishment of the squadron has helped increase and improve the security infrastructure in the state for the purpose of providing adequate security.

“The establishment of PMF 66 Squadron in Shendam is one of the strategies to ensure that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is at all times within reach and to promptly respond to the challenges of crime being faced by the people.

“The establishment of PMF 66 in Shendam is not by accident but a deliberate attempt to fight crime,” he added .

Lalong also assured civil servants of prompt payment of salaries, stressing that “with God’s help workers would not be thrown back to the dark days of staying for many months without salaries.”

On education ,Lalong said we would continue to revamp the sector to equip the future of the upcoming generation.

Lalong also said his administration is not afraid of conducting local government elections stressing that state would conduct local government elections if security agencies give them go ahead to do so.

The governor said that the elections were postponed because of security report from security agencies.

Lalong, also said that his administration would remain committed to the provision of good Governance to all citizens of the state regardless of tribe and religion

He also said his efforts to improve the agricultural sector has been monumental with the launching of 400 tractors for distribution to farmers under the Tractor Ownership Scheme and Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the state government and the Plateau All Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative Society (PAFMCS).

He said the tractors would soon be given out to farmers as soon as other implements are supplied to the state government .

The resuscitation of the fertilizer blending plant in Bokkos, the distribution of
about 24,000 metric tons of fertilizers to farmers at subsidized rate, and the multi-million naira Panyam Fish Farm have added value to agriculture in the state.”
