As campaigns and political activities intensify towards the party primaries of all political parties, interest and ethnic groups are taking necessary steps to brighten their chances of clinching party ticket. The Mwaghavul nation, one of the famous voting blocs in Plateau State, has been having consultations with a view to pruning down the number of contestants from its ethnic nationality. Various organs of the Mwaghavul have held series of meetings to this end, and have been able to reach a consensus.

The Kapuk, the highest decision making body of the Mwaghavul people, have reached the decision to endorse Professor Shedrack Best, a leading Aspirant in the race. The decision was communicated Wednesday 18th May 2022 by the leadership of the Kapuk, and corroborated by the leadership of the Mwaghavul Development Association.

It will be recalled that there have been concerns by political observers in the PDP and beyond, about the multiple aspirations in the Party, with ten Mwaghavul aspirants purchasing the nomination form of the PDP. Worried by the development, the Mwaghavul leadership stepped in to scale down the size and brighten the chances of their sons in the contest.

The decision of the Kapuk was celebrated across Mwaghavul land and all over the state, especially among supporters of the Governor emerging from Mangu LGA.

With this development, it is expected that other PDP aspirants will work with Ptofessor Best to actualise the desire of Mangu LGA and the Mwaghavul nation to produce the next Governor. The community strategies for actualising this decision is expected to be announced by the Mwaghavul Development Association soon.

Of all those aspiring to the office, Professor Best is probably the oldest member of the PDP and has never defected from the Party. This consistency is invaluable to the PDP and admired by supporters of the Party. He is also the most experienced in governance, having served as Special Adviser and Secretary to the Plateau State Government in the past. His spread of relationships across the state is unbeatable, all of which will assist the party to win the general elections.
