Barely twenty four hours after receiving report from its Constitution Review/Advisory Committee,the Mupun Cultural And Development Association (MUCDA),has been granted a space to build a Mupun Traditional Compound within the premises of the Museum Of Traditional Nigerian Architecture MOTNA.
The provisional approval granted by the authorities of MOTNA will however be made permanent if MUCDA meets the terms in the memorandum of understanding, MOU to be signed soon.
According to the approval though the Mupun traditional architecture is not represented within MOTNA,however it would be a welcome addition to the MOTNA project.
Reacting to the granting of approval,National President of the Mupun Cultural And Development Association (MUCDA),Chief Pedro Ardiyel Dafur thanked the National Commission For Museums And Monuments for granting its request to have a Mupun Traditional Compound sited within the MOTNA project saying when eventually in place,it will be a replica of the typical and complete Mupun compound as used to be during the time of our forefathers and will also accommodate Mupun traditional artifacts plus be a center for the proposed Mupun Language Institute
Dafur said already a team of Architects and knowledgeable persons as well as craftsmen of Mupun origin have been listed and will work alongside representatives of MOTNA to come up with an architectural design that will reflect a typical traditional Mupun compound according to MOTNA standards.
As such the President said MUCDA will evolve best ways of pulling resources for the realization of the project within the time frame which is one of the conditions given to it and appreciated a mupun son,Pastor David Dabit who is a Board Member of the National Commission For Museums And Monuments for coordinating the approval
It will be recalled that MUCDA last year sent a letter dated 15th October 2019 to the National Commission For Museums and Monuments requesting a space within MOTNA to build the Mupun Traditional Compound.
