Plateau is one of the states in the Middle Belt hit by violent conflicts and humanitarian crisis. Life has become increasingly difficult for the people of Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Jos North and other Local governments confronted in recent times with religious and communal clashes. Although efforts have been made by NGOs, Philanthropists, Governments at all levels as well as religious organizations to proffer permanent solution and make life better and prosperous for those mostly affected, there appears to be no end in sight. ViewPointNigeria reports that there are still pockets of attacks on community dwellers by suspected herdsmen and high cases of rape. It is in this light that Miss Plateau Abigail Zere Kim has taken a bold step to bring succor and put smile on the faces of Internally Displaced Persons as part of her dream of giving back to society. As a prelude to greater humanitarian services across the world, Miss kim will execute her first humanitarian project tagged “Hope for IDPs” on 23th July 2017. The project features:
1. Provision of relief materials
2. Trauma Counseling
3. Medical Check-ups
PURPOSE
The purpose is to create an endless ocean of hope for the IDPs as most of them are living in squalid and deplorable conditions. The government is doing little and sometimes nothing in coming to their aid. Life in this case becomes hard and somewhat hopeless.
DREAM
Abigail’s dream is to become a world leading humanitarian and help to define a better future for the poor and needy in line with God’s word which says “Whoever is generous to the poor, lends to the Lord and he will repay him for his deeds”.
