There was pandemonium in Kano on Sunday when militants suspected to be Boko Haram shot and killed four people. Sources said the gunmen came in a tricycle and struck at Dakata bus stop shooting before driving away to Dakata Kwaji where two others were shot. The two shot close to a graveyard at Dakata Kwaji were seriously injured.
The gunmen were wielding Ak47 rifles and dressed in “Kaftan” a traditional dress in the northern part of the country. Security operatives arrived at the scene shortly to evacuate the dead and injured from the area.

This development is coming after the Joint Task Force (JTF) overseeing security in Borno killed over 50 and arrested 70 Boko Haram members. JTF in a statement by its spokesman Lt Col Sagir Musa stated that the Boko Haram militants were killed during an exchange of gunfire. He said that the operation lasted 5 hours shortly after President Goodluck Jonathan left Borno. Two JTF personnel were killed while three others sustained injuries during the operation.
Large quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered from the militants include 3 anti-aircraft guns, 10 rocket-propelled grenade tubes, 3 general purpose machine guns and 17 AK47 rifles. Others included 1 pistol (Lama), 20 RGP chargers, 1 by 36 handheld grenade, 1 teargas riffle, 33 G3 magazines, 11,068 assorted ammunition, 4 technical vehicles with mounted anti-aircraft stands, 1 box of weapons cleaning kit, 4 swords and 2 knives, 5 walkie-talkies, 4 VHF handheld sets, 1 Multilink router, assorted uniforms and kits, among others.
It was gathered from security sources that the sect wanted to shoot down President Goodluck Jonathan’s jet as it approached Borno.
