Jos — The Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday averted what could have being a free for all fight at Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos, as Mighty Jets played 1-1 draw with Giwa FC in a local derby.

The STF is the military force charged with maintaining peace in Plateau.

However, its men intervened after the fans of both clubs went berserk immediately after the final whistle.

The fans were harassing the players, team officials, spectators as well as match officials following the failure of their teams to get the maximum points for the match.

The STF swiftly swung into action and guided the players, team officials and the match officials to dressing room before returning to send the angry fans out of the stadium.

Having exhausted every means to calm the situation, the security outfit resulted to the use of tear gas to disperse the fans to avoid the escalation of the situation.

Both teams tried to undo the other and get the three points at stake but none of them was able to win the week 13 league encounter.

Mighty Jets were the first to get on the score sheet as Kasim Mohammed scored on the 23rd minute of the thrilling encounter.

Nora Usman, however, equalised in the last minute of the first half to restore hope to Giwa who were technically away in the fixture.
