Jos — Governor Simon Lalong may sack some of his aides and move others from their current positions, after assessing that they have not been relevant in their beats since appointment, sources close to the government in Jos, Plateau State, said yesterday.
“There is a last minute’s indication that His Excellency (governor) will remove and replace some people. Certainly, some persons will have to go,” the source said.
He said the cabinet shakeup will be part of the one year anniversary of the governor, but added that it was difficult to know when the announcement will be made.
“This may come at the weekend, just hours to May 29. Certainly, the announcement should not be expected later than May 29,” the source said.
Earlier in the month, Governor Lalong said his assessment of his appointees, especially commissioners was good, although he did not say anything striking on the quality of their contribution to the administration to support his assessment.
Immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Raymond Dabo, had criticized the governor for lacking the clue to provide services that will serve as the signpost of the administration.
Both the Director of Press, Emmanuel Nanle, and the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on media, Mark Longyen, did not respond to calls and text messages asking of their take on how the government has fared so far.
