Chairman of Mangu Local Government of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, yesterday announced the dismissal of all political appointees in the council over what he described as the lean financial position of the council.

Our reporter portend that those relieved of their positions include supervisory councillors, senior special advisers, special advisers and special assistants.
Mutfwang, who announced the dissolution in a press statement, said it was with immediate effect, adding that the dissolution was a means of reducing cost owing to the council’s dwindling revenue allocation.

“Our statutory revenue allocation has dwindled beyond our control and we have to do something toward reducing cost. As a council, we are pained to relieve our lieutenants of their offices, which have been so helpful to our administration, but we hope they will understand with us,” he said.
The chairman said that the global economic recess which had affected the revenue profile of the country also affected the allocation of the council.

He thanked the affected appointees for their support, loyalty and services while wishing them well in their future endeavours.
